INTRODUCTION TO AIR ATOMIZATION BURNERS
In air atomization burner, the oil (fuel) is pumped in through the pumping system and into the oil nozzles. Here, the oil is sheared by an intersecting stream of air. These two are then mixed rapidly. After the mixing is done, they are then forced out the nozzle tip into the burner head.
Here they mix with the combustion air to generate the ignition. Usually, we use the air atomization burner with high capacity asphalt batch plants like 260 tph and above.
Air automized burners include:
- Ability to operate at very low excess air level without smoke.
- Ability to operate at a high turn down ration span.
- Reduces the emission and the burner is a low NOx rated.
The burner has a high preformed in-built combustion blower with regulating air flow mechanism. It
parallelly governs the pulveriser air flow and the fuel quantity. So, the burner operation is very
sensitive, and it regulates the aggregate temperature quickly and smartly.
Components of Air Atomization Burners For Asphalt Mixing Plants
Like any burner, air atomization burner also requires a lot of components to be working in a perfect synchronization to give the optimum result. Below are the list of components of air atomization burner for Atlas asphalt mixing plants:
FUEL PUMPING UNIT
- An efficient fuel pumping unit is mounted.
- It connects the all-pipe line and component.
- Fuel pumping system is protected with high pressure switch.
- A high-capacity fuel filter is mounted on the inlet of the pumping unit.
- The bucket type fuel filter is very easy to clean.
- Pressure adjustment by a wheel operated pressure regulating valve.
- Pressure adjustment without use of any tools.
FUEL OIL TRAIN ASSEMBLY
- A factory assembled and tested fuel oil train assembly is fitted on the burner base frame.
- It is connected it to the burner nozzle rod by a flexible hose.
- The pressure and fuel temperature probes are fitted with the system.
- It will protect the burner from low and high-pressure consequences.
- The temperature probe will be giving the access to the monitor controlling the fuel temperature by plant management system.
PULVERISER AIR TRAIN ASSEMBLY
- The pulveriser air train assembly is mounted with low and high pressure protection.
- It is for serving the air to the burner inner assembly for pulverising the fuel.
GAS TRAIN ASSEMBLY FOR PILOT BURNER
- LPG gas train assembly is with pressure regulator, filter, pressure gauges and pressure switches for pilot burner system.
AIR AND FUEL RATION REGULATOR
- An intelligent fuel ratio regulator is mounted on the burner for controlling the flame as per the requirement of plant.
- The ratio regulator is connected with modulation dive thru the telescopic linkage.
MODULATION UNIT
- A dual acting modulation motor is linked with fuel and air ratio regulator.
- It is for pulverizing and for controlling the air combustion simultaneously.
- So, the burner is very easy to operate.
- Burner can be easily tuned as per our heat demand.
AIR PULVERIZER NOZZLE ROD
- A bypass fuel circulation nozzle rod is used for this burner.
- The nozzle rod allows circulating the fuel at the pre purge time without bleeding the nozzle tip.
- Once the solenoid command is received from the burner controller, then the shaft is pushed back off the needles of the bypass plunger assembly by a pneumatic cylinder.
- So, this burner can work with any types of heavy industrial fuel without any starting trouble.
IGNITION UNIT
- A high voltage ignition unit will help to ignite the gas pilot burner for an uninterrupted main flame establishment.
- A dual ignition provision is provided for the burner.
- Once, the main flame is established through the gas pilot burner.
- It is also possible to start the burner using direct ignition method but we recommend the gas pilot burner ignition only as it is a safe way to ignite the burner.
FLAME SCANNER
- An ultraviolet flame scanner is provided for monitoring and supervising of the burner flame quality and performance.
- The device will help to prevent from the high risk of ignition failure hazard for the high capacity burners.
BURNER ELECTRICAL TERMINAL BOX
- The terminal box with run indicator for all the components is provided with a transparent dust prof door for monitoring the operation of burner.
- It will help in troubleshooting easily by observing the run indicators by the technician.
BURNER CASING
- A big size pre-mix air chamber burner head is designed for the burner.
- It will provide a noise free smooth combustion of burner.
- It will also help to make proper shape of the flame.
COMBUSTION BLOWER
- An in-built highly efficient combustion air blower makes a clean combustion with the air automizer nozzle.
- The backward carved blower fan is a long-lasting.
BLAST TUBE
- A furnace grade blast tube is fitted with the burner.
- The “WAGMAN CONE” type blast tube aids in shaping a proper and efficient flame.
BASE FRAME
- All the burner components are rested on the base frame.
AIR PULVERIZER NOZZLE
- The new design air automiser nozzle is for pulverizing the fuel to a minimum droplet size.
- It will completely fire fuel, and the result is a highly efficient low NOx flame quality.
- Flame length and the dimeter are adjustable as pe the dryer configuration.
- The nozzle is a long-lasting and it’s made by special material to last long.
GAS PILOT BURNER ASSEMBLY
- A gas pilot burner is provided for igniting the burner.
- It eliminates the starting trouble.
- It is very important component used in the high capacity burner for trouble free ignition.
- The pilot burner will work with all types of gas fuel which have not less than 7500 kcal/ Nm³.
- The burner is ignited by a high voltage ignition transformer.
- It is also possible to monitor the flame by a UV sensor and giving the feedback to the PLC system.
