The machine is designed and built to take in 40 barrels at a point and it can achieve production of 6 tph meaning that it can handle volumes of bitumen hence increasing productivity and reducing downtime. This is a 6 tph machine offered with a total of 4 rows for adding bitumen barrels. These 4 rows for drum entry and exit offer easy and fast entry of barrels. Each row will contain a total of 10 bitumen barrels. Barrel size to be used by the customer is 500 mm x 1000 mm. The total storage provided with the machine is 15 tons it is very sufficient to hold a sufficient quantity of bitumen. The thermic oil heater provided is of capacity 500,000 kCAL. The thermic oil heater is equipped with a diesel burner. It is also important to note that the rockwool thermal insulation covering the sides of the machine is of 65 mm.
Key components and working of bitumen decanter:
The major components of a bitumen decanter will include:
- Heating chamber (where barrels are inserted)
- Thermic oil heater with burner
- Hydraulically operated bitumen barrel feeding arms
- Hydraulic power pack unit
- Pipelines for the oil transfer between thermic oil heater and the melting chamber.
- Bitumen pumping system
Working of bitumen decanter is very simple. Empty barrels are fed into the machine by the hydraulic arms. The heating chamber is hot as there is a lot of hot oil flowing from inside the chamber. As the drums are heated due to the heat, bitumen will start melting and flowing down the machine into the storage chamber. This is a very safe method for melting of bitumen. As the bitumen is collected into the chamber below it can be stored for further use or it can be pumped out into nearby tanks for usage.
What capacities of drummed bitumen decanters are offered?
Atlas manufactures and exports bitumen decanters in many different capacities. Our initial models offered are with 18 barrels and 27 barrels. Both these models are containerised designs. Meaning it can be fitted inside a 40 HC container. We also have bigger sized models to accommodate 40, 50 and 60 barrels. Such a wide range of manufacturing capacity of decanters allow us to serve wide customer preferences.
